Located in the heart of Chapel Hill, La Residence is a modern French restaurant that artfully combines classic French culinary techniques with a fresh, inventive American twist. This fine dining destination offers an exquisite experience for those who appreciate sophisticated flavors, exceptional service, and an inviting atmosphere that makes every meal feel special.

The menu is a celebration of thoughtful craftsmanship and bold creativity. Signature dishes like the velvety Eggs Benedict and perfectly seared Scallops speak to the delicate balance of textures and flavors that the kitchen masters with finesse. The Shrimp & Grits offer a comforting, soulful bite, while the Hanger Steak with Parmesan delivers a rich, satisfying punch, perfectly complemented by a glass of finely paired Pinot Noir or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. Fans of French bistro classics will delight in the Pate and the Charcuterie Plate, where cured meats and artisanal cheeses come together with pickled vegetables to awaken the palate.

The atmosphere at La Residence is both elegant and welcoming, providing a cozy yet upscale ambiance that encourages relaxation and lingering conversation. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual brunch — where the indulgent Chicken and Waffles and a refreshing Mimosa Carafe set the tone for the day — or celebrating a milestone during a candlelit dinner, the attentive staff ensures your experience is seamless and personal. What truly sets La Residence apart is the vibrant creativity infused by its South American-born chef whose adventurous spirit shines through every dish. The menu is a canvas where French culinary traditions meet fresh, local ingredients and bold, unexpected pairings — such as the heirloom tomato and pickled beet salad drizzled with balsamic and burnt orange vinaigrette. Each bite is an invitation to explore layers of flavor that feel both familiar and excitingly new.

In sum, La Residence offers more than just a meal; it crafts an experience grounded in passion, precision, and genuine hospitality. For anyone seeking a modern French dining journey in Chapel Hill, this restaurant is nothing short of a delightful revelation.

Wow! Tonight’s meal was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Hostess was adorable, and our waiter was the best. We celebrated our daughter’s birthday, and he made it memorable. This was our first time; we will be back!

We had a wonderful evening at La Residence while visiting Chapel Hill. The menu is creative and diverse, a reflection of the chef’s talent and adventurous spirit. Originally from Ecuador, he brings a unique perspective to each dish and clearly takes great pride in his work. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional. A special thanks to Johnny, the manager, who went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. It’s clear that this is a place where passion and hospitality come together to create a great dining experience.

Adorable place, Orecchiette with homemade sausage (perfectly cooked al dente and perfectly seasoned, btw), astute waiter Karim was great. Had to wait until Thursday for them to open, you know Covid? Can't wait to see tomorrow's menu!

Excellent Mimosa's! Breakfast was delicious, and the restaurant had a very nice ambiance. I really enjoyed this place. The reason it lost a star was because of the price. $17 for eggs benedict and $15.99 for two eggs with bacon and home fries is too pricey for me.

We have never been to La Residence so we decided to go for my birthday! It was very cozy and our waitress was wonderful. My wife had the Shrimp & Grits without bacon for $23. I had the Hanger Steak dinner for $29. It had no potato choice which was disappointing. The side was an Arugula salad with cheese on top. The dressing was already added and was a citrusy vinaigrette. However the dressing got on my steak and it was not enjoyable. I did not eat the arugula. Luckily my wife had an ample portion of Shrimp & Grits to share with me. The steak was cooked perfectly and I did enjoy that. I ordered the Chocolate Tort for dessert and they put a candle it for me! The tort was excellent! We’ll come back when they change the menu again.
